A Summer Weekend in Asprela

A Summer Weekend in Asprela

There’s a time of year when the city changes. Group chats fill up with photos: beaches in the Alentejo, music festivals, tents pitched somewhere in the countryside. Everyone seems to be on holiday. Except you.

You stayed in Porto. And, for a moment, that felt like bad news. Until you realised that, at YUNO, you don’t need to leave Asprela to make the most of summer.

Saturday: Asprela is yours

The alarm never went off. You wake up to natural light and that feeling that the day isn’t in any rush. Still in bed, you reply to one last email left over from Friday. Then, you enjoy a coffee on the balcony. No rush, no schedules. At YUNO, there’s room to start the day exactly like this, with time to spare.

Mid-morning, you decide to head out. A quick workout to wake up the body. It could be at the YUNO Club gym, or a run through Asprela’s green spaces. Here, you don’t have to go far to stay active.

Lunch happens effortlessly. At home or in a nearby restaurant, always at a relaxed pace. Having everything within easy reach completely changes the way you experience the day.

In the afternoon, a friend messages to meet up. The Metro is right there and, within minutes, you’re on your way to Parque da Cidade. Open space, nature, fresh air. The afternoon slips by before you even notice.

Later, you grab a drink at Edifício Transparente. The light is still bright, the day still feels long. Someone suggests checking what’s happening in the city: a concert, an event, something to make the day stretch a little further. And there’s always something going on.

When you get back, the day still isn’t over. The warm weather calls for a dip in the YUNO Club pool. One of those moments that feels like a holiday, even when you haven’t left Porto.

Before heading upstairs, you stop by the supermarket to pick up a few things for a sunset gathering with neighbours who are also spending the weekend in the city. You agreed to meet at YUNO Club: starting in the Events Room, moving out to the Gourmet Terrace, and ending up in the Games Room. As the sun goes down, between music and conversation, time seems to lose all meaning.

When the evening winds down, you stop by the YUNO Club Grab & Go to satisfy a last-minute craving for something sweet before bed. A small detail that makes all the difference when everything you need is close at hand.

Sunday: The whole city is within reach

On Sunday, a friend arrives from out of town, one of those people who still sees Porto with curious eyes. They land at the airport and, before long, you’re there to meet them, thanks to the convenient transport links right on YUNO’s doorstep.

Back to town, the day plans itself. You head to Matosinhos for lunch, enjoying fresh sardines and a belated São João celebration. You catch up, talk about the city, its heritage, and the stories hidden around every corner.

After lunch, there’s still time for a detour to Leça da Palmeira to visit Piscina das Marés and A Casa de Chá, both designed by architect Álvaro Siza Vieira.

By late afternoon, back in Asprela, the pace slows down again. You spend the rest of the day relaxing in the shade of the YUNO Club gardens. A new week is about to begin, but there are no Sunday Scaries here, just a calm and peaceful end to the weekend.

Summer in Asprela moves at your pace

Staying in the city during summer can sometimes feel like a second choice. But at YUNO, you make the plan yourself, at your own pace. And having everything close by – comfort, mobility, services, green spaces, and friends – simply confirms what you already knew: your whole summer fits here.
